The edt-online project has been set up to help complete beginners' learn how to safely use the Internet and e-mail to shop on-line.
As part of the project EDT issues an @edt-online.co.uk e-mail address to each learner so that we can show them how to use email.
The @edt-online.co.uk email also gives them membership to the project - and that membership gives all of the following benefits:
Access to online guides and training resources
Membership of Knowsley Mutual Credit Union (KMCU)
Links to online shopping sites that give discounts and cash back
Advice and guidance on what IT equipment to buy and how to use it
By partnering with KMCU the project is able to offer full training on how to shop online with the added benefits of providing the means to do so:
KMCU provides an Engage Account which comes with a pre-paid debit card offering a secure way to shop online for anyone who doesn't already have a debit / credit card.
The aims of the project are:
To show people how to safely browse the internet and shop online.
To offer a free 'easy to use' email account along with the necessary help and support on how to use it.
To show people how to gain discounts and / or cash back on what they buy.
To provide access to affordable credit and a basic online banking platform.
